How to Get to Holbina: a Complete Danube Delta Transport Guide
The journey to Holbina is part of the experience — but it helps to know what to expect, so you arrive relaxed, not tired. There are two main options, depending on where you're coming from.

By car

The final destination by road is Dunavatul de Jos, Murighiol Commune, Tulcea County. From there you cannot continue by car — you leave your vehicle in the secure car park in the courtyard of Pensiunea Califar and continue by boat. From Bucharest, the drive takes around 4-5 hours (motorway towards Constanta, then the Tulcea direction). From other major cities, times vary — see the route from Bucharest or contact us for your city.

Without a car: flight + organised transfer

If you're coming from further away, the simplest option is to fly to Bucharest or Constanta and leave the rest to us. We organise the road transfer from the airport to Dunavatul de Jos, and from there the resort boat takes you to Holbina. Let us know your arrival time in advance and we'll arrange the whole route.

The final leg: by boat through the Delta channels

From Dunavatul de Jos, the fast boat transfer takes about 45 minutes, through channels rich in flora and fauna — practically a small expedition in itself. The transfer is included in the price of accommodation and fishing packages; for individual bookings, the return transfer is charged separately, according to the listed rates.

What to bring for the boat ride

Reasonable luggage (space on the boat is limited), a waterproof jacket or windbreaker even in summer — the wind feels different on the water than on land — and a charged phone for photos along the channel. Everything else, from toiletries to fishing gear, is already available at the resort.

For exact transfer and accommodation rates, see the Prices page, and for any questions about your specific route, contact us — we'll help you plan every step.
